Sencha

The Japanese place great focus and attention to detail in achieving a consistent flavor profile. Since Japan is an island where no one place is more than 75 miles from the coastline, many of its teas have a similar flavor characteristic. However, the aroma and flavor of the cup you enjoy is greatly influenced by the experience of a master blender. Japanese master blenders know how to consistently and correctly mix the semi-finished tea leaves coming from two or more of Japan’s growing regions to create a specific flavor profile. Our blend is masterfully crafted to reveal a traditional grassy and vegetal character that delivers a smoother and richer version that what we’ve seen in the past.

About Sencha production: Sencha tea is produced in two stages. Japanese farmers grow, pluck, steam, cool, roll, and dry their leaves to create “aracha”. Their aracha is then often sold to Japanese master blenders who place the leaves through a refining process that picks out discolored leaves, stems, fannings, and sorts the leaves by size. The selected leaves are then roasted together to create the final aroma and flavor of the finished tea. This is a very sensitive process that requires a great deal of attention and experience by the master blender.
